His long rhythmic approach to the wicket embodies a menace, which intimidates the nervous batsman. At the end of his panther-like run-up he jumps and delivers. The batsman offers a tentative, defensive push, but the ball takes no notice of the bats attempt at interception. The middle stump is catapulted out its sanctuary and sent cart wheeling until it comes to rest forlornly at first slip, in two pieces.
