rock, final saturday shaping as a doozie after saturday's scores, and too right you're a glutton for punishment. that carrot may have to go where the sun don't shine. and spolly aint gonna get a big W for this season because it has already been gift wrapped for someone who believes he's the best (yes, I know, spol also knows he's the best) but can't be trusted.
nice to dream but best keep some to yourself.
Seems gloves got in before me rock, but great forecasting by you and the old carrot can stay where it is for now. we still have the big W to go tomorrow night. the one who knows he's the best shaded the one who believes he's the best on individual performances on Saturday but will it be enough to cause the ddca to change the wrapping paper? me thinks not.
Carrot, massive call. Well done. I'll pay more heed to you next season. Jaaamiee Rodges should dis herself, or hire you.
Now that you've got the hard part out of the way (and because you are a glutton for punishment), who is going to win the semis?
OK Wordsmith - probably no surprises with my selections but here goes:
Mordialloc vs Springvale South - Those that may say that the team wearing the white shorts this week has nothing to lose because they finished fourth and because they are playing the best ranked side have boulders in their collective heads. A shot at a premiership in the most competitve, strong and arguably best suburban competition is a huge feather to have in a club's cap.
That said, Mordialloc do deserve their tag as favourites because they have been the best home and away side this season - no question - but with no rain this weekend the only right a top 2 finishing club gets this weekend is to supply the arvo teas.
Both sides have terrific depth and more than able bowling line ups with options a plenty. You can all but guarantee just as the bowling side is stringing a few good overs together and taking a few wickets that there will be a road block in the form of a partnership or 2. Whether that's at 4 down or 7 down I can't say. So therefore, I will back my Bloods to end a quality season for the Bloodhounds due to the strength of our middle order. While you have to accept that a new ball vs top order batsmen is going to claim a scalp or two both ways, the quality and experience in our middle order will be enough to post/chase a winning score.
Buckley Ridges vs Dandenong West - WOW...This is a ring-a-ding-dinger of a game and would not look out of place if it were played a week later. A lot of what I've posted above can be carbon copied for this game as both clubs have rights to go into this game believing they can win as they absoloutly should.
Quality in both sides here with bat and ball and more all-rounders than you would find in a Beaurepairs dealership however only one can progress............Buckley Ridges.
Even though they finished second, forget rankings because sometimes you just have to back the best side in the competition - and that's exactly what they are. They are supremely strong from 1-11 and their supporters should be making use of the public holiday on Monday and heading down to Keysy and reserving their spot on the fence for the following weekend.
In summary: Grand Final is Buckley Ridges vs Springvale South.

As bamboozled as ever choo thinking I'm the tag team aliase so succinctly put as glovesmith by barking dog. The fact is word mangler has come back on here and is riding my coat-tails. In case you hadn't noticed, he's a bit up himself too.
and carrot, tks for obliging with your preview. i will be holding on to my hat (or should that he two hats!?) re the upcoming games.
he's messin with your mind, thanking carrot for his reply to me before i could to make you think he's me and I'm him. to put you at rest, im going back west after the finals so you'll only have him to deal with.
Train, I'm honestly keen to get your thoughts for this weekends games, particularly ours. Mate as a T1 coach and skip which way do you see the games going? I respect the fact that you probably couldn't give a continental however as a neutral voice, as an active participant and follower of the comp your opinion carries some weight. Cheers.
carrot, hate to see you ignored but you have to forgive the guru who you reckon couldn't give a continental because he was burning the midnight oil swotting for his star turn on the ddca radio show this morning. boy, did he have some insisive comments.
anyway, he tipped the bloodhounds against your mob, and while his heart was with his cuz's side, he tipped the noisy boys. does that help?
will springy south be able to pull a finals rabbit out of the hat tomorrow on what appears (based on the low scores) a below par track at bk reserve?
if the track isn't too bad and it was just a question of finals nevers getting to all the batsmen, the bloods, effectively 7/58 if reports of harry staude's injury reaching fields afar are correct, can draw hope from the other semi where buckley were in deep he poo at 6/88 when two former openers, rudd and aust combined to put on 51 in 31 overs to steady the ship after all the so-called big guns were chopped for 0, 1, and 15 (sounds familiar bloods al la the butler, tgo and ayres?). then aust and goodwright added 131 for the seventh wicket, with aust bringing up a magnificent century in the second last over by smashing buckley right OVER the clubhouse and almost into the next postcode. wests claimed two cheap wickets in the last over with aust and kuru going for big hits for the team.
rivalling the applause for aust's fighting innings was the generous applause from all around the postage stamp for umpire tony medina who for a moment thought he was at the olympic diving and while scurring backwards to judge a possible run out completed a fine back somersault with double pique and triple twist.
sorry to hear about staude's injury. he also did a knee in delivery stride at the postage stamp in an abreviated game before he was poached from keysie. an ambulance had to be called and he was carted off to hospital. best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.
G'day Carrot. Sorry I missed this one mate, first time I've logged on here since I last posted. Wordgloves is correct, I was on the show and did tip Mordi and Buckley for various reasons, but I must say neither was with a great deal of confidence.
You'll be pleased to know ironwords, that I'll be giving my expert analysis game day this week so u can tune in and I might even give you a Cheerio!
ok tgo, i'll have another arrack (?). deepest sympathies.
and choo, no names no packdrill! give me a call to get the inside gos so that you are the full bottle when you go on air and don't repeat a certain thing you said last week when it was never going to happen. no doubt tgo will also impart his deep and meaningful words of wisdom. i'll be hanging on every word.
i also think it might be your shout after the match. same for tgo. i'll send an old bloke as my emmissary to collect.
