I was at Coomoora on Saturday and heard a few comments after the game. Pitch being under or rather not prepared since Monday. half the wicket a little damp, and the coomoora captain being suspended for 6 weeks for not wanting to bat in the 2nd innings in protest of the pitch conditions
A certain player, not the skipper, had visited the hallam ground twice during the week and had noted the wicket had not been rolled or cut since wednesday. i turned up at the game for a quick look and thanked my lucky stars that it was not me going to have to bat on that wicket. i would say 3-4 balls an over were quite full and popped up head high past the batters.

I wont say a hell of a lot as the game is being looked at and still under protest but sanchez is right, the ground was visited twice during the week and nothing had been done to the deck.. I can also quote a certain Hallam player, while batting last week, "wait til u f**ks bat on this next week".. Clearly that sort of comment just backs up that the deck was under prepared if any and if it wasnt for the white crease lines i wudnt have been able to tell the difference of the square.. I informed the umpires we'd be playing under protest and when rolled for 80 by tea i met with my vice captain, club coach and president and we decided not to bat the 2nd innings if sent back in, purely coz of the danger and wen i told the umpire he advised me i would get 6 matches and lose our ladder points for brining the game into disrippute.. if thats disrippute then wat is Hallam's attempt at preparing the pitch? I backed my team in to get the runs and go into xmas 2 and 4 and all we asked for was a fair crack.. clearly we didnt get it
skeik, lets say hallam didnt prepare the pitch and it was dangerous to bat on,what was the umps doing?hallam might turn around and say well if the pitch wasnt prepared why did the umps let them play?i cant see any result from this protest, hallam 6 commoora 0

not a thing which was dissapointing.. whilst out there they themselves were making comments about the condition while i was at the non strikers end but yea as i said, nothing was done.. sanchez was there for half an hour and saw 3-4 balls an over around our ears, that was at about 4 30 in the arvo, after it had flattened out and dried up a bit.. i was in, in the 3rd over of the day and i wasnt getting near many deliveries..

Thanks for that run down Rob.. obviously didn't see the deck myself but going on what I've heard from a few lads you've definetly got a case. Interesting to see how the DDCA handles this one.. could set a precedent.
