ok here is my strong opinion. the last 3 or 4 tests played throughout the world have ended in draws ok. if not all, 95% of them. we as spectators are slowly losing interest in watching dead draws played out. the 1st ashes test had twists and turns and fantastic individual performances but at the end of the day, still no result. i'm sure we would rather our team have a chance of winning, but lose, than just watch a measly draw. i suggest we cap the number of overs per innings at 120, with a second new ball per innings at 60 overs. only then will we see batsman push forward to a match winning score, with always enough overs in the bank to bowl somebody out. move on with the times ICC, we want results.
dunno if i like the concept of limited overs test matches but i agree something needs to be done i was thinking that the curators need to provide a wicket that can force a result instead of roads every test but can see ur point too
No doubt wickets are flat but at the end of the day captains have to look for results. No one was going to give an inch at the GABBA, a draw no surprise Our bowling is not great with Johnson to go as his worsening round arm action is destroying him. They need a wrist spinner but obviously not a lot of quality about.
Doherty whilst serviceable will never win a game so they may as well roll the dice again and try someone else.
As for Clarke... records good but is he up to being the next skipper?
The point old Beaver Slocombe is missing here is that there was a result. A draw. That is a result. We don't see a lot of drawn tests down here in Australia, so it's hardly time for panic stations.
If you want to have a game that is limited to 120 overs per innings over 5 days, then that's fine but don't call it test cricket. Make it a new format of the game and call it "Limited Overs Test Cricket which isn't actually Test Cricket because the overs are limited"....something like that anyway....
I thought of this before the ashes. The sub continent games are the killers. Just happened to be good timing with the draw here. What a waste of 5 days we just had.

Happy to see the next 4 tests drawn as well buddy !!!!!

Do we wipe a 100+ years of stats too slocs? Or we do just minus the runs and wickets taken after the 120 overs??? Come on. Sever over reaction slocs. Since Ponting has been captain we have drawn 13 tests out of 75.
