Serious question. I was just going through the ladders and noticed Narre is pretty much near the bottom of all senior ladders.
T1 12th, T2 10th, a grade 7th, C Grade 10th, D Grade 7th, E Grade 8th, F grade
Prez?...... have you lost a lot of players or is it bad form and/or bad luck? It was only a few seasons back a few where tipping Narre Warren to be the big improvers of T1.
(noting also most of their jnrs are in the top four or there abouts)

Lots to answer there !
Turf 1 - Was always going to be a tough year. Decided not to recruit heavily and back the kids. Several of them showed some promise last season and a few did well in the twos. We knew this year was always going to be a struggle and our main aim was to just be competitive. That being said, it was inevitable there would be a game or two we would get annihilated. Bound to happen with the class of some other T1 teams, and the way it is with a side full of kids. (Nothing against them, it was just always gunna happen. On Saturday it did..................
Turf 3 - Last season had 4 of the top 10 batsmen in the comp. ( All older guys) and the old war horse Grub who would arguably one of the best bowlers in the comp. This season, one of those bats left, 2 have been severely injured, and one has had an extremely bad run of form. Grub has also been injured so have missed his bowling and batting..........
Obviously with the few we have had leave the club and the injuries in the twos, several players are probably playing a lot higher than they should. Good for the future, not so good for now............
On top of that I convinced approx 10 blokes to come back to the club last season to get some seniors around the place. (Blokes around 30-35, who play synthetic and had left for family etc). This was great to scatter them through the grades last season but most have left again.
We are trying, but unfortunately just don't have the cattle at the minute and without going out and paying for it, we are where we are.
Hopefully our faith in the young fellas pays off, even if it means we have to go back too Turf 2 for a while well it develops.
Well answered by Exelprez, & he is another one thats been injured.
We had most of the old guys in E Grade retire last season which has certainly been reflected in the lower grades with little experience but that being said still alot of young talent coming thru & like SSCC 20yrs ago maybe we will come thru the other side & find some great cricketers out of this who have all of sudden been exposed to Turf 1 cricket.
We can only hope.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

With the number of teams Narre have i cant believe they wouldnt have a small fortune to go and recruit well. I think its stupid to be willing to drop down to turf2 because its harder to get up then stay up.

And my point is, i love talking to Darts & Quirky about the old days at SSCC, and how alot of the legends like Sloces, Sharpy, Darts, Quirky went thru the hard times & got relegated to Turf 2 when they were young, went to Turf 2 & won back to back Turf 2 - Turf 1. It would be pretty easy for people to jump ship because we went to to Turf 2 but to stick it out like some of the above & come out the other side would be be fantastic. Not saying we have another Sloces or Sharpy, but we me have the Next Darts, who knows.

We have 6 senior sides = 66 players. Maybe 75 tops with week in week out players.
At least 35 of them would be junior players who pay junior (or at best) intermediate fees.........
Our synthetic ground is out of action. In the last three years we have run the canteen properley for 1 year tops because of this this.............
We don't have a small fortune, infact, at the moment, we are running at a loss............
Going down to Turf 2 is a bitter pill to swallow and as we have all seen it's not easy to get out.
To compete in T 1 and make finals equates to a 12k plus spend. At the end of the day and as you rightly point out 'it is what it is' interms of funds available. You have to spend to stay up, thats the law of the jungle.
Appoint the right person and generally it is a good starting point. FWIW i don't think you are the worst side and you might just scrape through.
Good luck with the knee

They always say its tougher staying in Turf One than winning Turf 2 which is 100% on the money. But its faarking hard to win T2 as well just ask HSD and my old club MMs. Hopefully you can snag enough wins to stay up. But what will be will be.
