Finals pressure?
Permalink Closed

After some of the scores last week I wondered how decks could be so bad with the weather we have had of late (finally).

Today doesn't seem much better as I flick through results vault. I was at T1 all day, does anybody know what happened else where because some of these scores are amazing for teams who have reached a GF.............

T1 Buckley Ridges 99
T3 Cranbourne 104,  North Dandy 6/33
T4 Coomoora 108, Fountain Gate 9/102
T5 Cranbourne 130

Be a few blokes who won't catch many z's tonight I reckon..............

Nothing wrong with HSD wicket last week when we made 119 and Hampton Park made 70. Outfield slow but a combination of good bowling / fielding and poor shots were cause of score.

It appears same thing has happened today in Turf 3. Scores almost identical.

Pitch looked a belter at Keysy, but the pressure surely does make a difference. It's been a while in Turf 1 since a side batting first posted a big score.

Yeah i'm with ya Sheepy, the deck at Keysie was fine. I would think all of them would have been. There were a few loose shots yesterday thats for sure.

I just wondered if anybody could update us about what happened elsewhere.

Turf 5 at Hallam wicket great. Very young Cranny side against older experienced guys from Lyndale. Showed a bit with runouts. Crannys 3rd eleven too against a second eleven.

North dandy rolled 56 turf 3. Turf 4 coomoora won first innings by 4 runs but are 5/20 apparently second dig

Looks like a win for cranny in turf 3 has saved the pirates from being relegated from turf 2

There are no guarantees with relegation / promotion. Pretty sure there is no actual rule in place, its always up to the executive, or match committee to put sides where they think they should be. Doveton North found this out the hard way a few years back. They finished last in Turf 2, but Hallam won turf 3 and already had a turf 2, so Doveton North assumed that they wouldnt be relegated, and managed to appoint Paul McDonald as Coach. Then they got relegated anyway (as Mordy took the spot) and Macca walked.
I will stand corrected, but this is the way it was relayed to me at the time.

Anyhow, no guarantees, its just that normally they follow the promotion / relegation system when they set the grades.
