no under 21's in round 1 or round 10 so clubs have an opportunity to host a sunday game without affecting the ddca under 21's like last year. well that's my understanding anyway.
Round 1 - Oct 9 Hallam KP v Mordialloc Keysborough v HSD North Dandenong v Berwick Doveton v Parkfield Dandenong West v Springvale South Buckley Ridges v Narre Warren ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spare Days (Washouts) Jan 15 & Feb 19
Matches in round 1 & round 10 are to be played on Sundays
The Match Committee has been working through the process of selecting Turf 1 Sunday matches for this season.
However, their efforts have been inhibited by certain fixturing issues, such as clashes with Under 21 matches and Under 17 matches on turf (as well as possible Masters games).
As such, a limitation has been placed on Sunday matches being played in rounds 4 to 9 inclusive.
With this in mind, the decision has been taken to make all round 1 and round 10 matches Sunday fixtures (see attached).
This will enable all clubs to host a Sunday match as well as participating in a Sunday away game.
In addition, two clubs have requested that they host Sunday matches in round 5 (Buckley Ridges & Narre Warren).
These requests will only be approved if (a) the opposition teams (Keysborough & HSD) agree & (b) all four clubs understand that the DDCA has first call on any Under 21 players required. (This should not deter clubs from nominating possible Under 21 players.)
Any other clubs that wish to host Sunday matches (other than in the aforementioned rounds 1 & 10) are requested to seek the opposition's agreement and then advise the DDCA by this coming Sunday (4/9) if possible.
Once these requests (and the two from Buckley Ridges & Narre Warren) have been considered, ALL turf fixtures will then be released, possibly by Tuesday (6/9).
There is also the possibility that senior synthetic fixtures shall also be published on MyCricket about the same time.
Don't forget, if you want to host Sunday games, contact the opposition, gain their agreement and then forward a request to me by this Sunday (4/9).
Regards
Ray Nicholls DDCA Secretary
