Congratulations to the DDCA squad for taking out the annual T20 match last night (9/2) against Dandenong (again).
Scores were - DDCA 4/165 (Rob Johnston - Coomoora - 60, Ryan Hendy - Doveton - 30 & James Davies - Berwick - 28) defeated Dandenong 8/131 (Steve Spoljaric - Parkfield - 4/26, Tim Ford - Springvale South - 2/22 & Suranjith Silva - Springvale South - 2/23).
Unfortunately, the Dandenong players must of needed to be somewhere else after the game, as none of them attended the after-match get together.
The final DDCA squad was made up of the following eleven players -
Berwick - James Davies
Buckley Ridges - Troy Aust (wk)
Coomoora - Rob Johnston
Dandenong West - Matthew Fielding
Doveton - Ryan Hendy (Captain) & Matthew Hutchinson
Hallam KP - Cory Booth
Parkfield - Steve Spoljaric
Springvale South - Jarrod Armitage, Tim Ford & Suranjith Silva
These players have been invited to represent the DDCA in our annual Twenty20 match against the West Gippsland Cricket Association at Hallam on Wednesday 29th February starting at 5.15pm.
DDCA fielded a strong side and had a crack. Dandenong didn't and haven't for a long time. They won't play at full strength in case we beat them. They made sure that everyone at the game knew they weren't trying. They just come across as an arrogant bunch of wankers to be honest. In particularly Donnell, wowee what a flog. Being played at Shepley only makes it worse too.
Unless things change, I couldn't imagine anyone from our club playing in that game next year.
it does need to be played out at local grounds. i would imagine the reasoning for playing the game is so dandenong can try and sell the premier level brand of cricket to the locals. i'm not so sure the players understand that way of thinking. all players should surely realise the perpose of the game whatever it may be. the darren pattinson cup perhaps?
Yep, I like it. At least we know everyone would have a crack. We did something similar in the WGCA as a lead up to Country week. Was good fun and we had a rivalry after the first year.
