As I was there all day I would have to say nothing happened. N. Dande are the weakest pack of mongrels I have ever come across. Still playing for 5th is interesting I suppose.

A little birdie told me that the Northerners would only play for 8 points, not 10. Apparently, they wanted to declare at 0/0 first innings but were refused in no uncertain terms by the opposition, with some players refusing to play at all if it went ahead. Not sure why Nth Dandy would want to play for 8 points though? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Anyway, i'm sure someone from Hallam or Nth Dandy could confirm or deny this as i've only got it second hand.

I'm not telling you who told me and I'm not saying that it is 100% true. Just saying what I heard. I have no reason to believe that my birdie would be telling lies however.

Why wouldnt they want to play for 8 Train? It would get them level on points, with a better percentage. It also gaurantees someone gets the 8, where as if you go for 10, the team batting second has all the power, and no result is a gaurantee.....

i was watching A grade make over 500 runs but when i got back to the club the big brass were fuming with North Dandy. Zero/ zero declaration was the only thing on offer

Why wouldn't they want to? Well for starters, it would be seen as a contrived result which they DDCA wouldn't have allowed, the reputation of their club would've taken a battering (and still will if what we hear is true) and they would still have been relying on other results to make it with 8 points anyway. Narre had Doveton in trouble, Springy were always going to belt Keysy and Buckley were favourites against Mordi. I know it hasn't quite worked out that way, but they were putting a lot at stake for what would've been very little reward in my opinion.

I ageee with everthing you just said mate. At the end of he day though, it wasn't a 0/0 declaration last time this all came up, and eveyone is still talking about it. Agreeing to play for 10 points from the start is no different to playing for 8 from the start - its still contrived ( this is only my opinion ). If narre beat Doveton, 10 points won't help them anyway, so they were obviously relying on other results.....

Hey gobby did the a grade boys get enough runs you think? 593 enough? No thought of given the 8 guys from parkfield a chop out and declaring around, I don't know maybe 450-500???
