I heard she has been shaving her balls which will make them just that little bit lighter therefore giving them more air time.  That might be the difference between silver and gold.

What's everyone's tip for gold in the woman's hammer throw at the London olympics?

Interesting topic. Look it's hard to seperate the top few girls at this point, but you'd have to think the Russian Tatyana Lysenko or German Betty Heidler will go in as favourites. Outside of that I'd have Aksana Miankova of Belarus as my smoky.

I was wondering when somebody was going to bring up this topic.
I agree train that the German and Russian girls you named will be hard to beat, but I like the Chinese girl Wenxiu Zhang to come over the top of them with a final throw of 76.75m to claim the gold

Interesting observation Prince. I am thinking that this is just another Chinese ruse to get better odds and take the pressure off her.
You know the sport is massive over there. Can you imagine the pressure of 1.3 billion people expecting GOLD ( They will banish her to Taiwan for anything less)
Since that meeting in Rome she has been on a intense program of synthetic hormones, testosterone and many other steroids that have only recently been invented in Beijing. These I hear are undetectable.
So I am very confident of Wenxiu's success.

Batfink, if your research is correct it all adds up to being the closest olympic meet post war.

Batfink, I like the cut of Zhang's jib myself. Was going to throw her in as a place chance but thought it'd look a bit silly if I had too many selections. It is shaping up as one of the best events of this years games. It only seems like yesterday I was kicking home Miankova when she pipped Yipsi Mereno in Beijing. I had $25 each way on her at the start of the tournament thanks to a tip from Batfink. May pay to follow his advice again here too.

The women's shot put is what i'm waiting for, may be the only gold medal the kiwi's win. The hopes of 4.4 million people and 24 million sheep rest with Valerie Adams

This is the moment we have all been waiting for.
The lead up event (mens 100m) is over and the qualifying rounds for the womens hammer throw are on at 7pm
Any updated thoughts, selection changes, roughies?
