If you believe in political correctness DON'T read any further. You've been warned so don't whine if you do read on and then, in the manner of all bleeding hearts, call for the thought police.

Very, very nasty and dangerous attack on a Buckley Ridges T1 player in Dandenong in the early hours of Thursday after celebrations following the clubs T20 GF win on Wednesday evening could have resulted in black armbands being worn by Ridges and Springy players today, although I'm sure the game would have been called off it had ended as it might well have.

One of Buckley's Kiwi players was walking with fellow Kiwi from the opposition Lyndale team (good blokes from lossing team stayed on to enjoy the fun at the Manor) when a group of thugs from a notorious, fairly recent immigrant group from the Horn of Africa jumped out of a passing car and without provocation set about seriously assaulting Lash. He was stuck at least three blows to the head with a baseball bat and goodness how many other blows/kicks? as he was knocked unconscious in the street.

If it had not been for the fortuitous arrival of a gardos truck, the attack no doubt would have continued and Lash could have ended up a para or quadriplegic or even worse. We have seen all too often in the media what even one punch can do when a person falls and hits their head on the pavement/road.

The wonderful garbos saw off the attackers and called an ambo and the young Kiwi was taken to the Dandy Hospital.

He was hugely fortunate not to have suffered a cracked skull or worse. He spent the night in hospital and was ordered to rest for a period, which meant he wouldn't have been able to bowl had Buckley attempted to have a second crack at Springy's vaunted batting line-up.

This is the second life-threatening assault on a Buckly person in a couple of seasons by a group from the same ethnic background who, for a time, were parking themselves outside the club rooms and drinking heavily and causing a mess, including attempting to break-in. (If anyone is interested I will post more on the first attack.)

Very sad to say not much coppers can do. They apparently are underwhlemed by the response of courts when they do catch and present offenders on serious assault charges. One particular young scar face (tribal markings) is believed to have been up three times and enjoyed a wack with a soggy lettuce each time -- each time walking free to continue doing who knows what? Who knows how many other innocent people in the area have been assaulted by these guys who get away with it.

Of course, the church folk,  do-gooders and green-livered pollies who travel the world's war ravaged countries looking to be savious of the world return to their cosy leafy surrrounds and never have to worry about the dumb ingrates who arrive in a welcoming, generous  country that provides them with an unearned living as they go about their old barbaric ways, never even thinking about integrating. Funny how we never read about the child of a do gooder or a member of the judiciany or a senior pollie getting seriously wacked. Maybe only then will things start to change.

(Ok lovvies, let's be clear: I am not for a monent suggesting that all or even most people from the Horn of Africa fit this template and many are trying hard to make the most of their second gold-plated chance at life, but by Buddha, Allah, Jesus, Zorastra and all the other dieties, there are a few too many young bucks who are wreaking havo all too often on their hosts and other new arrivals in this land of the honey pot. And before the chant of racist goes off, hang on: I am a grateful immigrant from Asia.)
