ok, gooch an honest answer...

Techniquely, id take fridgey widgey. If it was to play higher levels id take fridgey widgey. I still think fridge can play county cricket and i think he will if he makes some smart decisions in the next few yrs.
At this level though Slocs is outstanding although he's techniquely not perfect he smashing attacks that are slightly off and can change a game like no one other bat can in this comp.

Gooch, its very hard to compare these 2 as they are so different in the way they approach it and the way they play. So at a higher level i'd take fridge because of his technical superiority but at this level i honestly couldnt split them.

I know i have been soft and sat on the fence but this is actually what i think.
My opinion only.
There is are 2 other players in the comp who deserve to be spoken in the same breath though Gooch and that C.Booth and Mapatuna.
I'd love to rate them for ya one day too mate.

having been involved in the comp for the last 27 years i think im able to make a comment on this topic.
slocs has always been a very good bat in this comp, but if you go back ten years to when slocs was 24/25 i dont think his record was as good as alexs last two years(going from memory).
alexs record over the last two years is amazing and i cannot remember anyone having the impact on the comp the way alex has.
slocs overall record in this comp is certainly up there with the best and could end up being the best bat the comp has seen.

as someone has already said its very hard to compare as alex has only had two years in the comp, but if he happens to play the next 5 to 10 years here, his ability certainly suggests that he will have slocs covered.
i think come the end of the season, we should revisit that question as slocs certainly has the runs on the board at the moment.

Sir .... one of the smartest thing you've posted on the forum...and Fridge Sir would be classed as one of Sloc's peers whether he's right or wrong.

And Sloc's as usual is the wisest of the lot as his previous post stated. The best from in the comp would be the one that puts the team infront of himself.

i hope your not saying alex puts himself ahead of the team.

Well he does

Sir ..... no i wasn't insinuating that Alex puts himself in front of the team. What i meant there are some great players in our comp but some do have a question mark next to their name in that regards.

fair enough. are you willing to name them?

no not really....would be a contensious issue really and only one persons opinion.

thought as much.........

Your Wilbur would be first cab off the rack Sir?

whats makes you think that?

A question for the oldies on the forum...

Has there ever been a brothers combo to ever take the league by storm in the fashion the Booths have done in the last couple of years?
I dont mean over a career i just been straight up dominating.
FT, Slocs, BB, Suad, anyone?

Yes the Wenke brothers used to smash everyone, that is before Matt lost his heart, started bowling pies and started drinking jimmy cans with his cornflakes.

What a flake.

Richard and Gregg Hammond bowled Cranbourne to a flag against Berwick. They took 4 wickets each in Berwicks score of 66 in the G.F. Was only one game though. But a good game to do it in.

FT, has Rick played Turf 1 cricket?

Rick played quite a few Turf 1 games, but a lot were played while Troy was at Richmond, as I recall. Rick was very much the poor relation in that particular pairing. Still, he tonned up in A Grade on Saturday. Not bad for a bloke in his late 40's....

Agree with your assessment of Rick, FT, but Troy is up there as one of the best bats in the comp over the last 20 years.

Cheers MD, I knew Rick had been around the comp for many years but since I'm only 22 I don't know too much from years back.

Yeah Troy has been one of the best in the comp for his career but i was only comparing them together with the Booths - meaning no disrespect to the Cashmans at the same time.
