Yeah ordinary at best. We had one good one and one shocker on the weekend. Yet the good one made one massive blue that nearly cost us the match! The other bloke was what we used to call a cheat but we don't anymore coz we'd get in trouble if we did.
Much better than i anticipated actually prez. The bowling isn't real flash, i'd say about Turf 3-4 standard overall. Still some very good bowlers just not the depth. The batting is what i've been most impressed with. Apparently we've only played the mediocre sides so far but i'd say the top 2 or 3 bats in each side would handle Turf 1 bowling without a worry. There are a lot of young kids with plenty of talent who are very very patient. Sometimes tediously patient when you are trying to knock them over! But that is in fact the opposite to what i was expecting. We had country week training last week and the standard there was really good.
Thats what I had heard. Each team has a couple of blokes that could definately handle playing on the grass. I know a couple of blokes in that comp who would be more than capable of playing T1. Must be bloody hard to get wickets late in the day when the ball is as good as f.cked and you got a bloke who could be playing a higher standard smacking it to all corners....................... No foot marks to work with on that sh.it!
The real question though Train is how are you going getting the blokes to take you seriously ? Rather than the fun loving pi.sshead iv'e always known you as !
Half of them knew me before i got there, half didn't! So you can work out who shows me any respect!
Na really, i've always taken my cricket pretty seriously and the boys respect that i've played at DDCA turf 1 standard and know the guys i've played with and against and have learnt from. I'm trying to teach them the perfect mix between having fun and still taking their cricket seriously. I think it's going well so far....i think.
Oh and to answer your question, yes it's bloody hard to get wickets late in the day! I had Ben Maroney absolutely plumb on around 30 odd on the weekend (he even started walking it was that out and then laughed when given not out), the prick went on to make 96 and nearly win them the game. Hard going bowling to a bat of that calibre with a tennis ball i can tell ya. Made the LB decision even worse.
