Could of been better

Turned up late at Harold Rd to see the end of the game which turned out to be a rippa of a game. Only to see in the last over 7 runs to get and scalesee hits a six and then a single to see the scores tied and then see Nicko given out LBW which from 70 metres away was way too high and was then found out to have a fair bit of bat in it. Obviously a bad end to what would've been a great game. Still better than losing having being around 8 for 190 odd.

Massive inside edge onto thigh pad an absolute stinker, Where's trigger finger to give us a run down? Seriosly if this umpire was a cricketer and made such a mistake he would be dropped. I don't know why he wanted to know the scores during the last over doesn't he just count the balls and make decisions?

Unless he is over umpiring and the absolute centre of attention he is never happy. I played in a game a few years back and he was going to report me for sharing a cup at a drinks break. Took away from what would have been a great game to watch, both teams would be disappointed with not getting the win in the end.

Reason for wanting to know scores is to ensure batsmen know the scores are correct. Also that game is not ended until scores have been confirmed and leaving the field before scores are right.

I was at the game at Harold Rd yesterday and i must apologise on behalf of us all about the final decision. Mistakes do happen and it is unfortunate on this occasion that it ultimately decided the result. Don't forget you players make mistakes too.

So the batsman or fielders should have asked for the scores, the umpire shouldn't walk half way off the ground to ask for the scores with 4 balls to go, After four more balls the game was over regardless of scores, all I'm saying is after walking 30 meters to find out the scores and tell them to check the books he has lost concentration and made a howler.

Sobers makes a fair point. which i agree with. Surely knowing how close the scores are/were would have being in the back of the mind

correct me if i'm wrong. Umpires don't need to know the scores ...full stop. They are there to umpire.

The only saving grace for this fella that i can see is if the umpire was asked by the captain of Buckley if the scoreboard was correct. No saving grace in the umpiring decsion though as it was a shocker.

Berwick CC losing only impounds the mistake ....instead of being 12 points ahead of Berwick the Bloods are only nine pts in front. Fair to say Buckley would be happy with their three points.

Then a simple request to the batting side to up date the board would suffice FT, no need to leave the field

I wouldn't write off Berwick just yet, i watched them in the field yesterday to St.Marys and they turned it on.
Maybe some loose shots played earlier in the day i didnt see them bat but that can be turned around, They bowled well in the second dig the Leggie (Henry) was shooting them on and had them in trouble, Roberts struck early and Carr was good with his 3.
They are just a good win away from turning it on, i enjoyed watching them yesterday afternoon and they should get some confidence on the way they bowled.

Our rooms were very quiet after the game and I can assure you no-one was happy with the 3 points. Having said that Ford and Nicko batted well and it was a shame the game was decided as it was..
