there was a story from one of the survivors on channel 9. Something like after fighting the fires for a bit husband tells wife ' that's it we're beat. We better ring the kids and say our goodbyes'.....they survived but could you imagine having to make...or take that phone call.

Of course it will be hard, and I am far from being a finely tuned athlete, but we only play eleven games as it is, and have already had one round called off due to rain. My side has played at least 3 one dayers already.
Surely with some common sence, extra drinks etc. We can get through a days play. If somebody is struggling that bad, get them off the ground for 5 overs, have a cold shower or something? Get some kids down to sub field for a bit.
I don't know but surely calling the whole weekend off is a bit extreme.................
I am with you elpres 100% all the way, Bloody Fridge and Goochy and there fellow men play masses amount of games. We only play eleven, just because it is hot we want to call it off come on, when you play cricket in summer you know you will get a few hot days. Ok not 43 but 40 is close enough so take some harden the F*** up pills and get the job done, if everyone had the attitude of not wingeing and complaining just to rock up and get through it and move on.
Spare a thought for the fire fighters covered in those heavy and hot outfits they wear. Do they call it off when it gets to hot.

Beaver you are farking kidding yourself mate. There is more to life than cricket, but unfortunately for you apart from talking rubbish about golf it's all you've got obviously.
We played on Saturday and I personally think it was the wrong decision by our league to leave it up to the captains and umpires of each game. I was happy to play, but we knew we were batting and if the opposing captain didn't want to play i would've had no hesitation whatsoever in calling it off. If we were bowling there's no way in the world would i allow our boys to play, even if it meant a forfeit. That's why i was quite suprised when there skip wanted to go on. Even at tea when we were 3-115 i offered to call it off and they voted and decided to play on. Good on them for having a go and good on our boys for getting over the line in the conditions. But at the end of the day, the decision shouldn't have been left in our hands. I can see where our league were coming from being half way thru a game and results being so important to ladder positions, but at the end of the day it was far too hot and dangerous to be even outside, let alone playing cricket. Our league exec's will learn from it however and i'm sure the first thing that happens next year will be a heat policy in place.
But for you Beav to sit there and bang on about how easy it would be, and for everyone to harden the fark up and so on, just shows what a moron you can be sometimes. Who do you think you are? Beacy (our opposition) have some seriously fit boys in there side, and they really really struggled to get through the day. I actually felt sorry for them at times, it was so tough out there. I would've loved to see you bowl and field all day in those conditions tough guy. Even bat in them. One of our openers batted all day and made 114 not out in probably the best innings i've ever seen. I would doubt he'd be able to work at all this week because of it though.
Then you bang on how you've got the inside knowledge and that the DDCA will definitely be going ahead with games on Saturday only to walk away with egg well and truly splattered all over your face. Then, you have a dig at Nicko! Only one of the hardest workers the DDCA has had. You've got some real nerve sometimes mate.
At the end of the day, the DDCA made the most logical and correct decision. End of story.
For the record, if Cricket was called off due to heat, I would be FU.CKING DISGUSTED........
do you honestly think you could have played in that heat ?

Gooch, thanks for you concern on Saturday mate but all was fine, thank christ! One very scary and tragic day indeed. It's hard to believe we actually played cricket. It looked like the world was coming to an end there at one stage during our innings.

have you got anything esle to report from the game train, anything interesting happen?????
Well a very good spray which was fair i thought. # My remarks about harden up was when the forecast was for 43, didn't know it would reach what was it 46.2 and it was far to hot at that temp but i think 43 would have been manageable with sufficent measures in place. # There are that many Alias on here, i had no idea Nicko was Ray nicholls i found it hard to believe that someone with his standing would be on a forum were we talk crap so my mistake i apoligies for that. He is a enjoyable man to have a chat n a beer with which i found out after the SSCC 20/20 day i spoke to him for a while. #DDCA did make the right call, would of been interesting to see what happened if we were half way through the round. #Jarrod you have been building some steam towards me for a while and it was worth it good work. lol

mentioned earlier today about my wifes good friend husband being missing in Marysville .....he still is missing. So in all honesty we know what the answer is. Very sombre mood in the household. And with the people concerned very sad indeed. They could not even get through to their property to try and find answers.......
and as i said earlier there's 100+ in the same situation.....A VERY SAD AND TRYING TIME FOR VICTORIA.

The bloke defo gone. The house completely burnt down and car still in the driveway..... won't be confirmed for a while. Need to get DNA from the ashes or something like that.
the main fire went through Marysville around 6.30pm at Sat. He's spoke to his wife and kids shortly before saying he's staying put, don't worry and he's hoping it will miss him. His wife rang back 10 mins later to get message bank. He was quite calm and obviously knew he was in trouble but i think said nothing as not to panic them.
