Yes Slocs. We were in the exactly same situation at our ground. So what did we do? 5 of us formed a committee and initiated "The Fence Fund".
Organised loads of functions, accepted donations etc. We raised $40,000 to put a 7 foot spiked fence all the way round the ground. Sure, it wasn't easy. We had to avoid public walkways etc. But it allowed us to get great covers. Put some hedge on the fence and it looks awesome.
Are you guys for serious??? I was at Pakky till 2 and it never rained at all. It did look dark though.
2 things.
1) why have no clubs over here got wheel on covers that one guy can put on if need be?
2) why did no-one read the weather forecast and anticipate this.
Look, I'm not being a dick, but some of the stuff that has gone on this season is staggering considering the quality of cricket you have over here.
Our covers were down early and the pitch is a road, I just hope they don't call it all off so I can watch the lads have a game.. Why the DDCA can't as of Thursday night state that barring curator restrictions the covers can be put down at your convienience is beyond me..

Turf 1 hat-tricks are just too easy, what do you mean you haven't got one..
becomes a problem on the second week lefty when games are in the balance i'd say. clubs will/won't be consistently putting them down and will also need manpower on a friday morning to lift them up. i say there should be a "small" cover that is enough to just cover the wicket that can go down on a thursday night, therefore the curator could surely lift that "small" cover up himself.
There is no doubt, this is not an easy situation given the fact none of the grounds are fenced in and, more importantly, you don't have full time curators.
Slocs seems to have a reasonable solution. You can't tell me that if the radar shows rain, a club couldn't find ONE member in the area to wheel the small cover on?
If clubs don't get the single wicket cover on, and the pitch is wet (especially in the 2nd week of a game) then punish them. Dock them 2 points. Clubs will soon get their act together.
The bottom line is if all turf grounds were covered last night everyone would be playing tomorrow(or given the best chance of playing)magic weather all week a dodgy friday some games r now not going to get underway
The finer details can be worked out Lets just cover the pitches
Just got back from an inspection at Barry Powell Reserve - wicket was uncovered. Very soft crease was all mush. Cannot see any action on it tomorrow in the t2 match against HSD.
