Tourist injured in bungee jump gone wrong
Cord slipped off his feet during the jump
Suffered injuries similar to car crash victim
A UK tourist has suffered injuries similar to those of a car crash victim after a bungee jumping accident.
Rishi Baveja was on a month-long holiday in Phuket to celebrate gaining a degree in engineering when he decided to visit the Jungle Bundy centre in Kathu, the UK's Daily Mail reports.
As he jumped off the 50m platform and fell towards the water at speeds of up to 130km/h the bungee jump cord slipped off his feet and he hit the surface of the water.
Mr Baveja escaped massive head injuries by managing to take the full force of the impact on his chest, however he still suffered a ruptured spleen, collapsed lungs, a torn liver and severe bruising.
Surgeons likened his injuries to those of a car crash victim, and he spent a month in hospital.
All the doctors were staggered that I lived," he said.
'I'm very lucky. If I had landed head first I would be brain damaged or dead."
He said the incident has not put him off extreme sports, and he planned to go skydiving once he was fully recovered.
Well obviously they must hand out engineering degrees like anything at his Uni. If the bugger was any good he would have picked up on the faulty rope before jumping and would of saved himself suffering injuries similar to those of Rick Dizneck.
