one thing i dont understand, when teams are in turf 2 they always want to play turf 1 and they spend heaps of money on players (imports and locals) to get to turf 1 but once they are in turf 1 they dont care anymore. For example Coomoora, when they were in turf 2 three years ago they had a very strong side (they beat the same hallam side in the granny),everyone was happy and they played some good cricket, what happened to them now?!?! On the other hand Dandy west, 2 years ago when they were in turf 1 they were struggling to find good players to keep them in turf 1. But look at them now in Turf 2 three imports...

Some clubs spend up big to get there and can't sustain the player payments to stay there.

I sort of agree with you PM. Blokes get over paid massively in turf2, then come up and get found out. After struggling in the top flight they will drop back down a couple levels to get the big coin again which clubs will pay because every club wants into turf1.

Most players in turf 2 have batting deficiencies that they can get away with because the bowlers are not consistent enough to chip away at it so there is always a bad ball to put away to release pressure.
But in Turf 1 these bats get found out and some are quiet often to impatient to or lack the ability to build a innings, there weaknesses get targeted with bowlers good enough to sustain pressure.
Just when the good opening bowlers come off you think you get a reprieve but the change bowlers are just as good, coupled with some good fielding and the lack of bad balls makes the task alot harder to perform at a higher standard.
Don't care what anyone says turf1 is a good standard and a big step from turf2 and most struggle to adapt there game which had worked so well in the past.

Thats how i see it as a batsman.

I think we should take beav's post very seriously. I mean who better to talk about turf 2 batsmen coming up to turf 1 and struggling. Wonderful insight there beav.

To be fair to Booby Gray dont know if you go labelling him a T2 bowler after 1 fill in game.

Id think more T4 from all accounts.

Brett not being a smart arse but from your observation would you say you have found that from coming off a 600 plus season in T2 to T1

You are an evil man. Mood swings must come from you being on the same gear as your golden boy stokesy.

fwiw, he obviously loves playing with his mates thats why he there but stocky is streets ahead of any turf1 spinner

Beaver I'm not on that list but I'd back myself against you all day. Leg side bully!

I think the top bowlers in Turf 2 are of a high standard and would easily get into any T1 side. You seemed to cope fine with them last year. You are just having a bad season mate.

Didnt he get 530? That's quite a big difference Kiwi!

To put it into perspective, he's not far behind Slocs this year. All players have ordinary seasons.

Beaver can bat and could score runs in T1, I don't care what anyone says, I've played against an awful lot of cricketers in my career and I know what I'm talking about.

And I havent checked, but I don't think ANYONE has many more 350 this year, if at all.

sorry paul 533 then.
How can you even compare Beaver with Sloc's. One of them has being there done that for a number of years the other is a rookie , if your going to use that as a arguement compare apples with apples.

My point Kiwi, is that even players as great as Slocs undoubtedly is, can have average seasons, and Slocs bats on a road most games. It is the nature of your format over here..a couple of bad decisions and 2 or 3 balls you were good enough to nick and your season is almost over.

I've probably watched Beaver score more runs than anyone else in the DDCA and trust me, he is good enough to be a more than competent T1 bat.

ps - Craig I love you.
