But it's obvious that that isn't going to happen Craig. I've thought about it, and until you get full time groundsmen on grounds that are fenced in and private then your current situation will remain.
Given that, there is only one alternative. Get on with it!
city of dandenong have the best wkts in the comp. Why?....cause the curators are PAID employees of the City of Dandenong.
Most City of Casey wkts are prepared nowhere near the standard of the Dandeong wkts.
City of Casey will never go back to curating wkts....Most Casey clubs have a glut of juniors and players....The clubs struggling with their wickets perhaps some of this money earned should be in paying their curators decent money for decent work.

No i havent got side tracked. Yes perhaps players need to toughen up but it is not players that call off the game...it is the DDCA executive and/or umpires.
But most wickets if prepared properly there would be far less washouts. Harold Rd is a prime example....... this wkt would be ready to play on at any given time. Why....because of the work put into the ENTIRE square.......so one days rain will not effect the chance of play.

So the players always want to play huh? Try talking to your seconds about what happened at our place on a wicket we netted on all afternoon without problems....
if covers were used no games would've been called off.....
having said that i understand there should have been cricket played at st marys....
Wrong, Sir. I will let my 24 years as a player and 16 as an umpire speak on this one. Pitch had not been mown and was uneven after what I was told was 15 minutes rolling on Saturday morning.
Umpires have a duty to ensure that players do not get injured where a pitch condition is such that it is guesswork as to how it will play. Both captains did not want to see players get hurt nor did the umpires.
and before you start I played in 85/86 in a T2 semifinal at Hallam where play started at 3pm on Monday so I know about affected unprepared wickets. Also played many seasons on uncovered wickets before and after that.

Problem would've been solved if ennough work had been put into it. You may've had a net on it...but by all reports it looked a shocker. If....... i repeat if the wkt/ for the matter the square had been better prepared the game would've got underway.

I started this and you are trying to change direction. The fact is, there are going to be bad wickets occasionally and my opinion is that this is part and parcel of the game.
You said players are not the ones who dont want to play. I proved that this is not the case within minutes.
And yes, it didn't look good, but we could have at least tried it. You know yourself that wickets look worse than they play at Strathaird.
Why do you always want to argue with me on here??!!!
You are saying that those eleven players didnt want to play. Bu-lls-hit. They left home wanting to play. But geeting there the wicket looked horrible, unplayable and unsafe...end of story.
And as i said earlier maybe we do need to toughen up a bit. But if...as you said if they at least tried to play. So a fella copps a rearing dellivery...hits him on the elbow and breaks it. And cant work for six weeks and has a mortage and kids to feed and no income cause he cant work.
If players are forced to play in unsafe condition wie would lose players
