Unfortunately, Cricket Victoria have stepped in and appointed VCA umpires for the match, which is extremely disappointing not only for Neil but for the DDCA.

The VMCU might be asked to seek clarification from Cricket Victoria as to why local umpires where not being used.

Hopefully Buckley Ridges enjoy the day and win the match.

Late breaking news. Thanks to the intervention of Mick Hawking and Cricket Victoria Regional Manager, Adrian Jones, Neil Evans has been reinstated to umpire the MCG match on Sunday (together with a VCCL umpire, presumably from the Ballarat Cricket Association).

Good news for Neil, so we wish him well & an enjoyable experience as he gets to walk onto the hallowed turf.
