no pain for our side missing out. i feel more pain for people that need to contrive results. very sad day for "LOCAL" cricket.

slocs, do you know for sure this result was contrived? so your saying harry and franks came to this agreement?

Any declaration without batting just looks bad, you wouldnt do it in any other round!

I know its a silly hypothetical that sobers brought up but why not both teams declare on 0 in other round and play for 10 points straight away?

Because if both teams declare on 0, then who is going for the outright and who the reverse outright?

well just looked at the points rules again its actually 8 points and 2 points if a first innings tie then an outright, but still 8 points is obviously better than 6.

Its a tough situation, 100% genuine in asking this slocs, but what would you have said to franks if he approached you yesterday in that situation?

Legally right....... Morally wrong. What happened to the spirit of the game?

Contrived is one word. Borderline cheating is another phrase one could use. Remember nth dnong and chandler (i think) did something similar years ago. Only diff been there was a couple of slabs paid and a couple of years suspension involved.

The whole situation leaves a bad taste..... the guys involved have tarnished their reputation in my opinion

Berwick
Boston Stranglers
Doves
Rule Benders

GO DOVES.......i think

I don't know all the facts mate. All im saying is it's not cheating to declare your innings closed. Both sides were trying to win there's no doubt about that. There may have been an organised declaration i don't know, but its different to match fixing or cheating if there was that's for sure.

im not against getting a result if its only between two sides like aus vs england etc but those two teams (buckley and parkfield) knew this gonna screw up sscc. thats why i think its wrong. parkfield knew they have lost the game why not keep batting

Ft it was Nth Dandy and Silverton close to 20 years ago, thats the game that you're referring to and not Chandler.

you cant compare these two situations FT. The above was blanting cheating, a club was paid beer to lose.
