Yep ! Really looking forward too it Jake. I have always said when my knee gets to bad i'll be an ump (and a bloody good one) so this week I get a taste of it !
Well mate, I DON'T think it would be a ridiculous idea. 2 day games are always going to be open to dodgy goings on with what happened last week and pitch/outfield shenanigans. Also a lot can often depend on the toss.
20 weeks of cricket this season Gooch.. how about 7 two dayers and 6 one dayers. 15 round season. Everybodys happy. Chatting to a few blokes from different local leagues they seem to be going down the path of a 15 round year with half one dayers and half two dayers.
i like goochy's idea i must say. all 45 over one dayers starting at 12.30. simple.
If the DDCA were to do some sort of poll Slocs.. tried to gauge what the players want much like Premier cricket is doing. Would be very interesting to see what most guys think, I'd rekon a one day only comp would win out.
If it has to be that for the results we saw last weekend to never happen again so be it but being a fan of seeing blokes bat for the day or bowl 18 overs plus and really put in surely appropriate legislation can be introduced so to protect the 2 day game
I'd be entirely with you Slocs - all 45 over games. Only reason I suggest the compromise is too keep the traditionalists happy who are fans of two day cricket. But either way I'd love the DDCA to just have a listen as to what the blokes that play the game want.
FWIW, we start at 1 and play 26 fifty over games. Bowlers can bowl unlimited, though our club has campaigned unsuccessfully to get this to a maximum of 15.
Games often dont finish till 730 - not sure how you guys would deal with that. On the other hand, if you skittle someone and knock the runs off quick you can be on the sauce before 4!!
A good score is anything over 200 and 250 rarely gets beat.
You can also draw games which I could go into but it's quite complicated.
Anyway - IMO, it's far more fun than the tedious stuff that often occurs over here!
I like it sounds like a plan. Helps us blokes who are lucky to bowl more then 10 overs in a day. The best part is u get results very week so alot of either excitment happens back at clubrooms after wins, and if u are on a bad patch then you can reddem yourself next week.
What about young blokes who bat for say a maximum of 20 overs or bowl a maximum of 10 overs (50 over format) then go to district cricket and all of a sudden asked to bat or bowl for a full day Im not saying they couldnt adjust but it would be much harder i wouldve thought
