We are 0/10 overnight chasing Dandy Wests 290.. all out in the 90th over. Play got underway at 2.30. Anthony Brannan for them made a chanceless 160 batted superb. Mick Gallagher for us took a 5 fa.
Apparently Dovwton fielded on shade cloth spread over the square. Kudos for getting on I guess. Wonder if the will find St.Mary's fans from a few years ago, or maybe a helicopter. No ones too sure how Hallam drains since resurfacing. I was right in my tips about Chappy returning to form, just got the rest wrong. Big job needed with the ball by Hallam and a huge one with the bat by Berwick, unless it rains...
its a damn shame that the weather will be the winner for most games tommrow. Buckley was fantastic and 9 times outta 10 would win in the situation there in at the moment. But looks like berwick will go thru by washout. I guess they deserve it finishing on top of the ladder though. still a game should be won by bat and ball NOT the weather!
Got away on time at Berwick yesterday and looking at the radar there doesn't appear to be much rain left, hopefully. Rocket has done a terrific job the last 2 days so I would think\hope we could start at 12.30..
Ground drains very well considering it was flooded 6pm Saturday..

Absolutely bucketed down last night in Moorabbin all night.......
I honestly can't believe how there was play yesterday and will probably be some today, why can't all involved take this attitude during the home and away season. I would go as far as saying that alot of games/days play through out the H&A season got abandoned due to weather for alot less then what we have seen the last couple of days and i mean alot less. Just goes to show when there is a real desire to get a game up that cricket can be the winner.
Is that the reason you are saying we got play STU?
I put it that the fact it is finals cricket & we might of had a scenario where teams who made the 4 might have had there chances taken from them due to weather meant that umpires involved where doing there best/everything to get a game going where earlier in the season the pin might have been pulled.
Now i seen the covers down at Berwick Saturday & i may be wrong but it looked like there was only one square cover and not two so i don't think Buckley brought theres along. Then i heard the rain got under the covers and yet there was still play????
Maybe it is just me but this weekend we have had rain like no other and just seems we have lost days play this year for alot less?
have you been able to have playable conditions every week this season?
Good question, if we want to play cricket then i say yes.
We don't have to play on roads every week, the wicket does not have to be bone dry, but unless they are we don't play.........anyway i reckon it is great there has been play this weekend hats off to all involved i am just saying why can't we have that attitude in the regular season?
Anyway i look forward to getting to the UK soon and seeing what extent they go to to play games of cricket.
because we didn't play does not mean we did not pull out all stops to get play.
Slocs instead of always looking for a argument with me on here, how about you put your opinions out there. You are a well respected player of the DDCA your opinions hold more weight???
beaver if you say there was more rain this weekend than any other and cricket was still played then i'm asking why didn't you play against berwick? not an argument just a question?
So you disagree with my point that it appears all lengths have been pulled out to get play were earlier in the year play would have been abandoned on the same conditions???
