I can't see Proud Chicken allowing one of there big C0cks in the pen to be allowed out on some sort of day release, production would be greatly effected?
Some people may care and others may not, just another topic here.
Rocked up to our T20 game tonight and the wicket was damp, but there was not one word spoken about calling the game off. As we got some about 14 overs in our bowling stint it really started to drizzle considerably. The umpires asked the players and we said carry on. Then 2 overs later it got heavy and play was stopped. We returned to bowl 2 further overs to reduce it to a 18 over a side contest.
Then we had to bat, and when i took guard it was literally in a patch of bog. The wicket was soft and when i looked up it was pitch black. I have never experienced anything like it in cricket in my life.
There is no doubt in all these instances that under DDCA rules and regulation that there would have been no play.
A game was played in full and cricket was the winner, just because the wicket is damp does not mean a good and safe game can't be played. I know Goochy and his fello English lads have been saying this for sometime but i can start to see were they come from even more. Everything should be done to get a game happening rather then ways and motives looked at to abandon games.
If you think the wickets in Oz are unsafe and dangerous when they get wet, get a grip of yourselves and come and see what the English put up with.
Do they have many insurance issues in England with injuries from bad wickets?? Im tipping that is most of the issue with calling games of in the DDCA and other comps. Dont know about "get a grip" though Brett most guys just want to play cricket.
Nothen worse then worken all week and looking forward to playing Saturday and then we cant play.

Not sure about the 1st part of your question mate, all i know there was no injuries last night. Some times it is a mental thing, if you worry about getting inj you seem to get inj. If you just get on with it and not worry you tend to be ok. Weird how that works but.
Found out this weekend that there is a English tradition that if you score a 50, 100, 5fa or a hat trick the Captain goes around the ground amongst the crowd collecting donations in his gap to give to the milestone achieved by the player. Some league or cup games can get a crowd off 200-300 people which would net some serious coin. One lad one season apparantly got about 200-250 quid about $360-$450 Australian. Heard a County player last year got some 600 quid which equates to $1080 massive effort.
What are people thoughts on it, it happens in all league i believe across UK.
Fairly good points Beav but the one thing you have to take into consideration is that in England when a wicket is wet all it does is stop or is slower ,in Melbourne it will take your head off !! i remember playing Buckley on a wet one my first year in the comp, i played a forward defence to a full pitched delivery from Saj and was hit on the badge of my helmet !! whereas in England the worst that would have happened is i would have hit the splice of my bat handle !! fair difference i think

OK Max cheers pal, but i happened to play on a wicket on the weekend that did what you talked about at Buckley. Worst wicket i have ever played on our Keeper reckons he got hit around 12 times in the Chest, Shoulders & throat.............It was a mind field but i do believe that this wicket was the exception and agree with your point on all the other wickets i have played on to date.
