If the points system doesnt come in does that mean Parkfield lose the new c/c. Having paid him 3 times the cap thinking the new system was to come in

Bobs, if the new system doesn't come in, then i reckon they'll scrap rule 7 totally this year to avoid situations such as that.

Not that it worries us at the cave either way.

why dont u take your coaching gap off for once and just try bridging the cap between Berwick and Parky who are unbeatable this season ... As my pop used to say "If the gap fits"

Listen here buddy, we'll be doing everything we can to bridge the cap between us and the league powerhouses such as SSCC, Parkfield and Buckley. But we won't be breaking any salary gap rules to do so. We are happy with the local players we are producing as they all play for the baggy blue gap and not for financial gain. We are a very close knit unit and I think thats a great feather to have in our gaps. We will be having a pre-season bonding session in Halls Cap to bring us even closer together, so look out you salary gap breachers, we're having a fair dinkum tilt at the premiership gup this season.

By the way, when your pop used to say "if the gap fits..." you would've replied with "but it doesn't"

Or do the ddca just say to all the clubs that have complained, get off your fat arse and go and find some sponsors then you may be able to attract quality players?

Sir, u make it sound like we have some kind of sugar daddy tipping in unlimited funds thru our club, without knowing the ins and outs of all clubs , i would debate whether any committee would work as long and hard on fundraising and sponsorship than ours ,
Reading all the posts i am sensing that alot of your points (some valid ) is talking about us and our player payments.... Again, our recruiting committee work there backsides off all winter tryting to improve our club....
Its no secret that we dont have the depth in juniors such as all caseys clubs have  so would u prefer we just roll over and disappear or continue to work hard and push on to the best of our ability.....

Ps. i also have no answer as to what is the best case scenario....

Not all Q,

Let put it this way, for all clubs that do work hard and have a good sponsorship base like sscc can afford to pay out some ok money. My question to slocs was that if he played at a club that did not have a good sponsorship base would his opinion of it being open slather still be the same. IMO I dont believe it would be.

you asked me what i would do if sscc had no money. don't change your tune now please sir.

Wow wee! This out of season tension between the Bloods & Bears is intense, I get the feeling they don't like each other very much.

You're right prince. I'm going to stab slocombe in the throat with a stump when we play them if he keeps this attitude up. As for Quirk, well the cap between him and the rest of us is just too big to even worry about him.

Anyone know of a captain coach in the DDCA that has taken massive paycuts to help recruit more players in the hope of winning a flag for the club he loves?

I know of a club that the last 3 coaches including the current one, who have actually tipped in money, rather than take any if that answers your question.

Sir I know that Pete has put a lot of bloody work into the new model as has his team but that doesn't mean we should just roll over and accept it. In my view at times the DDCA is too arrogant for its own good and for their officials to be walking around towards the end of last season suggesting that it will definately get voted in so plan for it was always flirting with disaster. i have never understood their need/want to rush this change in for next season. It was never going to allow clubs certainty in recruiting and many clubs like us would have been over the 23 points in round 1 with last years players. What were we going to do tell players who were high point values to bugger off?

The DDCA needs to take a breath and as El Pres suggests look at the intention of the rule in the first place. People can bang on about us having heaps of money and therefore being against the cap and the rule change but our point of view is clear we don't think either system, the current or the proposed are fair.

Bloody good call mate. This definitely happened. There'd be some serious egg on some faces if it doesn't get voted in, and I am absolutely convinced its not a definite.........

I wonder if anyone on the working commitee would be man enough to vote against it if they had a good think about it and realised its not an ideal system ? That would be bloody hilarious !

So the question is how do clubs plan for next season? I find it a an absolute farce that we are in June and it hasn't been decided on.
