Quit the winde up train.....we all know that's not the case. Still one of lifes unsolved mysteries that whole fiacso where 1 club was favoured leniency and another wasn't.
As i've said before, it doesn't bother me mate. We'd be sitting on about 14 points with the new system, and we pay out less than $6K a year, so if it was the old system it wouldn't matter anyway.
I know you've had strong views on this issue in the past, just wondering if that was because you might not be able to fit everyone under the points cap? I reckon ya's would, there's a fair bit of room. How do you blokes sit at the moment?
I don't know what you're talking about Prince. I wasn't in the comp the last two years remember? I didn't know another club played an illegitimate player. Genuine.
Thought you would be ok. Is it starting at a higher points limit, then working down over the years or is it just straight in at 23? Have you blokes got plenty of juniors? Going to be hard for the Dandenong based clubs to keep junior numbers up over the next 5 or so years.
starts at 26 and will come down a point each year i believe til it reaches 23. if we work hard we can get juniors. there are 5 clubs off the reel i can think of that don't (or only just) have juniors. they are the ones in trouble imo. wouldn't go broke or fold under the rule 7 scenario but who knows what the future holds now. once again i say that we are fine and this isn't a biased opinion.
too hard to police admittedly. but why are clubs in lower grades trying to bring higher graded clubs back to them. current successful clubs worked hard to get to where they are at so why shouldn't the current lower graded clubs have to do the same. and also, why should synthetic clubs be able to vote on this?
Yeah i get that mate, but that's assuming that all "lower graded" clubs have stronger juniors than that of the "higher graded" clubs. I'm sure there's plenty of cases of the opposite.
Listen Slocafella, let me use Berwick as an example. We will not lose out with the new points system coming in. In fact, we will probably benefit from it if anything because of our long history of retaining players and strong junior base. I would consider us a "higher graded" club. How is this an advantage to the "lower graded" clubs? How is this bringing us back to the field? It's not, you are clearly only worried about your own backyard which is fair enough, i'm just not quite sure why you won't except that fact? You guys work hard to raise good money, year in year out, therefore have the power to recruit really well. Under the old system, you could spend as much as you liked without the worry of being penalised. Under the new laws, it will be policed and you are limited to the amount of recruits you can get. There is also the worry of being in a poor growth area to attract young players and the fact your most loyal servants (1 pointers) are in the twilight of their careers. I'm not having a go here, in fact i can see exactly why you wouldn't want it in and it's a fair enough argument too.
