I've heard it will be most likely put back a week making rnd 1 a one dayer

1st part is true Prince about it been put back a week but I followed up on the text you sent me and it may not be a 1 dayer as 1st thought. Your mail on the the DDCA playing it as a "2 day" game seems to have legs. Using the 2nd day as day 1 and then using Monday-Thursday nights with 20 overs on each to make up the 80 for the 2nd innings I thought was silly and you were having me on but all credit to you and your sauce.

The DDCA is serious about playing more cricket and appear to be using all avenues available. Good on 'em as most of us pay to play so we may as well.

I thought this was a winde up, until i seen this come into my inbox from Nicko. Don't know why they couldn't just settle for a one dayer....

Dear DDCA Club Representative

TURF CRICKET

Following input from Greater Dandenong curation staff and the majority of clubs based outside that city, the decision has been made to abandon all TURF cricket for the weekend of 2nd & 3rd of October (Week 1 Day 1).

At this stage all TURF Matches will still proceed as two-day fixtures starting on the weekend of 9th & 10th of October (Week 1 Day 2), and continuing on with 20 overs per night on the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings (11th-14th October) weather permitting.

Any club that feels that their turf wicket may still not be ready by these dates should advise me sometime next week (before Thursday 7th of October).

All Turf Clubs are reminded that red balls must still be used for the second part of round 1, even though the light may be an issue. The DDCA believe their would be more issues created by having one team bowling with a red ball, then the other using the white balls.

SYNTHETIC CRICKET

A number of synthetic wickets in the City of Casey are still to be uncovered, but council are working through these. In addition, the condition of a large number of outfields is inhibiting the normal mowing process.

Given these factors, a call on senior SYNTHETIC cricket for the weekend of 2nd & 3rd of October (Week 1 Day 1) will be relayed to clubs at the Board of Management meeting next Wednesday (29th September).

In would assist if clubs could inspect their synthetic facilities and report any grounds that might not be ready by Week 1 Day 1 (2/10).

Regards

Ray Nicholls
DDCA Secretary

I can see a few outrights or close too it come Rnd 1. Sides batting 1st on the Sat knocking up a good score and trying to use their 80 overs and then bowling in fading light over the Monday-Thursday nights....might see 20 wkts fall a few times over the grades.

i think its very unfair, it favours the bowling side who can use their 2 best bowlers for the whole 80 overs considering they only have to bowl 10 each a night, and also are you allowed to use a super sub if someone has to do a bit of OT one of the nights?

Ridiculus suggestion. Is the thought of a one day match that bad??? Surely every club has guys that work arvo's or nights or school. Let alone some blokes wives being keen on hubby playing cricket 6 days in 8???
