Don't be too hasty there Exie...Yes Turf is off and it has being confirmed that it will now be a one dayer but as the DDCA is serious about playing as much cricket as possible, it is my understanding that all synthetic games will commence at 9am thus allowing sides to bowl their allocated amount of overs by 2pm at the latest and give players a chance to get to where they have to be to watch the Granny. No juniors on the 2nd makes this possible. A good initiative in my opinion.
DDCA clubs were advised on Thursday 23rd September that all turf cricket for the first week of Round 1 (Saturday 2nd October) was called off due to the state of the wickets.
Now with the AFL Grand Final being replayed on Saturday 2nd October, all senior synthetic cricket will also be postponed and Round 1 matches will now be played as one-day games on Saturday 9th October (Round 1 Week 2).
Junior matches (except for Under 11's) will also commence on this day, with fixtures being distributed hopefully before Wednesday 6th October.
Clubs are reminded that approved coloured clothing may be worn in all one-day matches (compulsory in Turf 1 & Turf 2), providing all team members comply.
I'd say Berwick is going to struggle looking at it on Saturday. Just not enough grass coverage yet, although days like today are only going to speed up the process.
How is everyone else shaping up? Keysy looks good (from Cheltenham Rd anyway!), I would assume Harold Rd and Park will be up and about as well. Unsure about the rest!
