Maybe so elpres but why would the clubs have to nominate, surely the majority would love to be playing in it and i would've thought every teams ones should get a go unless your club wasn't interested. But if any clubs want to have a 20/20 match at our place the night before Australia day can they let me know cheers.
Bit out of the loop on the admin side Benny but i am sure theres a cut off date for the clubs to nominate for the T20. So i would say that narre north either didnt nominate or was too late.

Ah good to hear ft, we go there every Easter and heard rumours it was closing down.
Do yourself a favour and play a round of golf out at digby. One very different course that's for sure. Then into nick's clubhouse for a Darwin stubby and a game of quicksilver with the locals. You can't beat it.
Can't believe you've been to merino, not many people have even heard of it.
That's the one Slocs. It's bloody complicated though and a few of the boys are still trying to grasp it. The best way to explain it is it's sort of a combination of 500, poker, checkers and snakes and ladders. Strange combination I know but can be a lot if fun. You can actually buy the set with board, magnets and cards in some of those games shops which makes it a hell of a lot easier to understand. It's played in pairs with either 4 or 6 players. You can play with 8 or 10 but you need two decks if that's the case. Every player is dealt 7 cards in order of 2,3,2 and the rest go in the kitty. Then each player bids to see who takes the kitty but must throw all but 7 cards back in and then those cards are out of play. Then basically what happens is the player directly opposite the dealer leads and it's the team who takes the most quicks (tricks) wins and gets to move there magnet as many places as they won by and/or in relation to what they called at the beginning of the hand. There's many different ways to win a quick, as there is different combinations of cards are worth different values. Eg; a double Jack crossover is where your partner leads a jack of hearts, which you trump with an ace and in turn he throws down a Jack of spades. You can only do a crossover with an ace or a card of the same value. In that situation, for an opponent to win the quick, they would need to attempt a risky queen overthrow which means they would need a queen of diamonds coupled with aanother card valued at 10 or over to beat you, providing you or your partner don't have another ace. If you do it's double points and practically game over as u can move your magnet to the end of the board to make it a king.
The winner is decided by the team with either the most points after 30 mins or who makes it to the silver bullion first.
There are a heap of rules but once you understand it's a ripping game. The reason we go up to merino every Easter is because that's when they have their annual tournament. It attracts about 150-200 people every year now so it's quite a big event for the small town.
If u want I can email you the rules so u can play it at the club.
i had most of it in the memory bank but would def need to sharpen up a few tricks. grouse game to play havin a few froffies. hard to remember which cards to hold and which ones to fold....
Mate, it took me 3 years to memorize the order of value, but once I got that I was half way there. Then it's all about strategy, when to pike, flop, crossover, overthrow etc.
Best bit about it is you can buy in at any stage so you're never out of the game.
