How many games didn't start today because the square was too wet? Our Turf 1 and Turf 4 missed out for this very reason. With rain again predicted for next Fri and Sat the DDCA needs to strongly encourage clubs that have small covers to purchase the new covers that cover the whole square. Otherwise why cover the pitch at all? Pretty sure the DDCA lets clubs pay the cost off over a couple of years. I hope club Presidents affected will be on the phone ordering new covers first thing Monday!
Yeah ringo it was unfortunate that the area on edge of square cost us a game. Just try and make sure your on time next week, $5 fine for being late today not a good start with new skipper at the club.
A point was raised today at a game (called off) that if covers are to be put down friday for saturday games why then are the covers allowed to be put down on friday if a game is being played on sunday with no game being there on saturday? Someone please explain?
But for the record, if the league offered us covers that could cover the whole ground and allowed us to pay them off over a few years, we would probably take them up on the offer..........

Glad we can entertain you craig!!! Anyway, im more than comfortable in how the keysborough cricket ground has been presented for cricket over the last few years, since i have been playing there anyway, obviously not as good as sweeney reserve though.

Not sure who that is aimed at tiger. Easy for me to say as a low grade hack but maybe players and the league need to be prepared to play sometimes on less than perfect pitches. I'm sure some of the older blokes played on worse pitches back in the days of no covers than those decks presented on the weekend.

The square being soft wasn't all a result of Friday nights rain obviously slocs, like other grounds that were declared unfit it was due to a wet month in which the covers were not allowed to be used anyway so not sure the size of the covers was the reason we didn't play Saturday. Doesn't matter how big if you can't put em down.

I didn't respond as I wasn't there. I'm sure different people would have different views as to why ss lost that game but I wasn't at the club then so I have no idea what happened.
Tiger I would more than happy for my club to take a whack if we were the only ground that didn't get up or we had been playing in the lead up weeks, but on the weekend half the turf grounds were apparently unfit to play on but ours seems to be the only one under attack here. Our covers were good enough last year when on a few Thursday nights we had monsoons go through but played Saturday yet apparently Fridays sprinkle of rain deemed our covers useless. That just doesn't make sense.

Sleepy ur club shouldnt get the GF because u have useless covers. I understand in general that the ground is in better condition than most but losing most games at home on the 1st day helps with less wear & tear.
