Doesn't matter how big if you can't put em down.
I didn't respond as I wasn't there. I'm sure different people would have different views as to why ss lost that game but I wasn't at the club then so I have no idea what happened.
Tiger I would more than happy for my club to take a whack if we were the only ground that didn't get up or we had been playing in the lead up weeks, but on the weekend half the turf grounds were apparently unfit to play on but ours seems to be the only one under attack here. Our covers were good enough last year when on a few Thursday nights we had monsoons go through but played Saturday yet apparently Fridays sprinkle of rain deemed our covers useless. That just doesn't make sense.
1. The wet area on the square had nothing to do with the month of rain, it was directly affected by the rain on Friday night and the fact that the covers did not cover the square. How do I know this ? Because the pitch and the area next to the pitch that was covered, was dry ! (and the simple fact they got a roller out on to the square during the week)
2. There were 4 other games mentioned before I mentioned Keysy, where the covers were presented as the reason for no play. You are the only one under attack because you seem to be the only one stupid enough to argue that the covers had nothing to do with it !
3. Keysy should be very proud of the way they have presented their ground in the last few years. It has clearly been in better knick than Sweeney, and I applaud you for defending your club. But, this topic is titled "Covers" and is a discussion about players missing games due to small covers. So stop deflecting the subject, cop it on the chin, and run along.
Watching the weather forecast. Late rain Fri and Sat morning. $1.01 that games don't get underway next Sat because pissy little covers wont cover the square. Please ffs can clubs with the small covers order new ones (don't need cash upfront - DDCA pays and you pay them off over time). In the meantime buy some tarps or something so we can actually play/watch some cricket!!!
On the agenda at tonight's DDCA meeting I believe. For gods sake don't make me write another open letter!
And which club are you aligned to tiger. And before you start slagging off at clubs you may need to do a little research as to when the new covers came in with the DDCA and to when they decided to bring in the larger ones that cover the square. The larger ones came into the DDCA a year or two after these so called small ones, which are larger than the ones that use to cover the wickets at Keysy and Fotheringham Reserve. I might also add that it doesn't help that when the water restrictions were lifted that the council also turned on the sprinklers. The sprinklers came on at Keysy on a Thursday night after the deluge we had a couple of weeks ago. Why doesn't the sprinkler system have a rain sensor ? Does your club have a rain sensor and would you know what one looks like, not likely. The covers at Keysborough have nothing to do with why there was no play. I have been in the horticultural industry for over 24 years, been to University and have my Degrees. Unless you have a full understanding of Turf management and Horticulture, dont waste my time. A lot of people make comments about things that they know very little about, and they are the uneducated.
Were a silly mob at Keysborough , to fix issue of smaller covers ( purchased two years ago through D.D.C.A ) all we had to do was recruit EX Elpres and Tiger, with all their hot air wet spots on square not a issue anymore. Two ill informed people, who should solve issues at their respective clubs before wasting time having cheap shots at others
Might not be qualified to answer Slocs, only has a degree in turf management not mathematics. My qualifications are elsewhere so I'm not as well informed as some but surely if you have covers like ours which cover the square, barring an issue whereby they leak then the square stays dry? Look forward to correction from Dr Santa Anna or similar.
Hey lefty not sure how smart I am either but by my calculations most covers would cover your entire ground. At least slocs is having a cracK with a decent ground behind him but not sure blokes from sweeney and park oval should be throwing too many stones.

Bottom line is, there was a GF decided by a coin toss because ur covers are terrible and u dont need a degree in waste management to see this. Just to highlight how organised ur club is, u dont even have a turf1 keeper 4 weeks into the season. Maybe sleepy could take the job since he knows all things cricket.

Thinking the same myself Tiger. I would have thought I would be entitled to throw stones at whomever I like including Keysie, I was of the mistaken belief that was the rationale for this forum.
Still didn't answer my question about the covers Sheepy. And for what its worth I love playing at your ground, I even have a photo of it as my avatar, just glad its later in the season :)

Oh I knew you used it yesterday too tiger but as a fair man I gave you a second chance to think up something yourself, but clearly that was beyond you. Glad you enjoyed our ground lefty, isn't it nice when you can actually get changed into your whites inside rather than under a tree. I didnt respond on the covers because as I said before, but tiger for your benefit I will repeat it. I wasn't around when the covers where purchased or when we apparently stole a grand final from you. Shaggy and the shadow know more about that so ask them.
Funny prince.

I think Tiger may want to check with Craig about coin tosses.
Between the covers in 2008 and the infamous round last year when the world and especially PCC conspired against SSCC there appears to be a lot of straw clutching.
That's why SSCC is so flat. They got rid of anything that resembled a grassy knoll.....
