As an umpire Jake I thought you would have been aware that the dont bat the entire 80 overs next week if they've already batted some of them

think your're right woofa, for example in A GRADE we faced 35 before the rain came, so we would get only the remaining overs which is 37 next week. pretty sure thats right.

That's correct sir, and if the opposition only get to face the remaining 35 overs you have to get all 10 wickets to win

Rule 19.3.5
If the aggregate of time lost by a delayed start and during the first batting side's innings exceeeds 60 minutes and the circumstance provided for in Rule 19.3.4 has not arisen, compulsory closure shall not apply.  The innings and match shall continue under ordinary conditions with the number of overs calculated under Rule 17.

Rule 19.3.4

If the number of overs bowled or commenced is 60 (54) or more, compulsory closure shall irrespective of a time loss exceeeding 60 minutes.

Now if you read both rules together and apply them to last Saturday's matches then no side made it to 60 (54) overs in its first innings and the aggregate of time lost has exceeded 60 minutes, then COMPULSORY CLOSURE SHALL NOT APPLY.

Jake is right, Sir and Woofa you are wrong.

Side bowling first must get first batting side out and then make the runs to gain 6 points.  Side batting first must get side batting second out to gain 6 points(minimum) and second batting side must not reach their total.

Or else it is a draw.

And if no rain 80 overs next Saturday. Deductions to be made in line with Rule 17 if play delayed for weather at any time.
