How so? I'm sure there will be declarations, but why would they be "shifty"? Craig you do realise that declarations are actually legal and part of the game don't you?

it sounds to me like berwick v narre may have a declaration on the cards
There may well be persuader. I'd say if Narre got to 180-200 in front about half hour or so before tea they would declare. Not sure why that's shifty though...
My point was only that considering the position these games are in at the moment, the team batting first is likely to make a fairly sporting declaration to try and produce a result, which isn't "shifty", as i thought you were suggesting.
If I were the team batting first i'd try and set a target of around 5-6 an over with about 40 overs to go. That would be ok wouldn't it?
What would be an example of a shifty declaration, say in your game this week, with Mordi at 0/23 overnight?
There seems to be some confusion regarding the continuance of round 3 turf matches commenced last Saturday (30th October).
Rule 19.3.5 (Lost Time Exceeding 60 Minutes: Insufficient Overs) is quite clear in that the first batting side may continue under "ordinary conditions" (see Rule 15.6) with no compulsory closure i.e. continue batting for all 80 overs this Saturday if desirous (unless dismissed first).
If the first batting side is dismissed and the second batting side does not pass their score within the balance of the day's overs, then the match is declared a draw.
Naturally, a Captain may declare his innings closed at any stage and some captains will do what is required to obtain a result.
Any turf match that did not commence last weekend will be played as a one-day game this Saturday (or Sunday if fixtured).
Coloured clothing is compulsory for turf 1 & turf 2 teams and optional for other grades. White balls and fielding restrictions must also be used for turf 1 & turf 2 matches.
The question of voiding round 3 day 1 scores was not considered, given the varying state of all matches (some games played up to 36 overs).
