Another wonderful contribution by you tiger. Sorry to disappoint you but unlike yourself and half the clowns on here I don't hide who I am. Those on this forum who know me, know me as sheepy so once again tiger you are way off the mark.

yes its been heavily talked about and i think money is the biggest factor to get success. Where i was heading though is i think we will say more clubs merge in the Dandenong area. No one wants to see their clubs merge but it is inevitable and will lead to more power clubs eventually. The comp as we know it will change in terms of demographic in the next 10 years. Beaconsfield and Pakenham in, at least 4 mergers in Dandy area.
Hmmm, sensitive subject and im not here to offend. But all clubs in Dandy zone including Doveton, Hallam and FGate will need to look at this. All will hate the thought but over time clubs will have to consider whether just surviving will cut the mustard. Also, check out how many Dandy centered clubs have strong juniors? The comp will follow the growth corridors. Dandenong area will still be strong but with less clubs
These are just my thoughts and not meant to be aimed at any club in particular.
Its obvious that too many clubs in the one zone will almost certainly mean mergers. Common sense says that competing at the very top means consolidation. If not the Dandy clubs then who?
I did mention Doveton, Hallam and F Gate, are u classing them as Dandy clubs? U just have to look at local football and see who the stugglers are, teams that dont have strong juniors. What about the issue i raised on juniors? Many Dandy clubs doing it hard. If u disagree thats ok but show me evidence?
good point and happy to answer. What i am saying is that if you can keep up the money supply u can be a power. However, the likelyhood of all clubs providing the necessary $ seems unlikely. If clubs have strong juniors it lessens the money load coz more home grown players can come through the ranks.
Is it fair to say that the Dandy based clubs do not have strong juniors? As i said some in time will merge
Cranny have huge juniors and play T2. Narre same and lower half of turf 1. Think your view on what makes a succesful club is a bit simplistic. Lot more things required to be successful.

Understand what you are saying Gobby, surely these growth corridors are not a inexhaustable commodity and need to be shared amongst number of clubs within that area. This arguement regarding the death/strength of Dandy based clubs has being brought up before but where is the success of these clubs with huge juniors bases. Just looking at the results of the grand finals played in all 12 grades last year ( including One day ) 9 or 75% were won by these terminally ill Dandy clubs that you quote. Yes your are right no Dandy club will be able to replicate say a Cranbourne or Narre Nth with they junior base simply because of the aging population and the number of non playing cricket immigrants in the Dandy area, but with the sucess that some of them have and the sponsors in place being able to sustain what they currently have in place should not be a drama It is all good and well to win junior flags but if your senior's are not playing at the highest level or producing what retention levels will you have, promising juniors will look elsewhere or will be offered $$$$$'s plain and simple. And if clubs are able to offer these $$$$"s so be it. Spending to get players like the calibre of Ayers, Arnberger etc can only be a plus for this competition and will attract players of the same ilk.
As you stated the demographic will change in 10 years as it has done in the last 10 years and in those 10 years I cannot think of 1 dandy based club that has fallen by the way side
again 2 good examples you raise but we are talking about power clubs here. What i said was it takes $ to be a power and if you have good juniors it greatly assits. When was the last time Cranny or Narre were successfull? Neither spends a whole lot whether thats by choice or necessity thats for others to comment on
You havent answered my point on mergers so do i presume u think they will not eventuate?
I think mergers may be the wrong word, relocations on the other hand may be more likely as clubs chase the juniors bases, what this will then cause is a bottleneck of clubs trying to attract the them.
What not to say that mergers will not take place between say Cranbourne and Merinda park or Narre and Berwick as they are all fighting over the same corridor, why should only dandy clubs be brought in this subject

Parkmore merged, St Marys struggle and others maybe happy to stay in turf 2. I honestly do not think that all clubs will survive, thats partly to do with committees or lack of. How hard is it to get a really strong working President. Clubs that have one dont know how lucky they are, they dont grow on trees these days.
I am a huge supporter of our comp, its been a huge part of my life and i dont want to see clubs go. I also dont suggest clubs should not spend to attract players. Some of the players we have / get are sensational. Hats off to clubs that attract great players, i dont think the comp should have an even playing field, the strong survive and the weak fall away.I stick by my predictions though, there will be mergers
What does it cost to put out a Turf 1 side that will make the 4?
