Best world 11 cricket sides
Permalink Closed

At work today 10 of us picked our best ever world cricket side. Due to many drinks we ended up argueing and then picked B, C and D sides. These are not my own picks, they are "majority rules "teams. Nevertheless here they are.

A Team, Greenidge, Haynes, Bradman, Larra, Tendulkar, Kallis, Sobers, Healy, Warne, Akram, Ambrose.

B Team, Hayden, Boycott, Ponting, V Richards, S Waugh, Gilchrist, K Miller, Hadlee, Murrali, Lillee, Mc Grath

C Team, Gavaskar, G Smith, B Richards, D Gower, I Chappell, C Lloyd, A Knott, Underwood, Marshall, Holding, Garner

D Team, Gooch, M Taylor, G Chappell, M Crowe, M Waugh, Botham, Dujon, Vettori, K Dev, A Donald, J Thompson

There are not many POMS in the sides but dont blame The Goblin as the majority rule was in place. Stacks of awaesome players we couldnt fit in and no doubt many we hadnt even thought of

Hadlee in the A team in place of Ambrose IMO.Had to do it all on his own playing for New Zealand.Opening partner was Ewan Chatfield says it all really.431 wickets at 22 in 80 odd tests and very handy with the bat too.A legend of the game.

The fact that Malcolm Marshall is not in the same team as The Don shows how little any of you know about cricket.

Are you missing a player from the B team, perhaps a keeper ?

Player agent how can you break up one of the most prolific opening partnership ever, 16 century stands and 4 times in excess of 200 imagine Bradman coming in at three after Greenidge and Haynes have just plastered the attack

Wally Hammond is in the best 44 cricketers ever, FT told me he was sensational in the 1938 tour.
