Turf 1 Grand Final
Permalink Closed

I hear on the grapevine that Keysborough will once again host the Turf 1 Grand Final this season. The word is that Harold Road will miss out because of " their playgound fencing". Regardless of the reason, the Keysborough ground has created a great atmosphere in the last couple of Grand Finals.

i am with Slocs here...even though a bit bias.

cant knock the venue nor the hospitality. They bend over backwards for the ddca and clubs involved. But as far as atmosphere

there was far more at watcher..but zero everything else

Why are people worrying about the venue? The worry is that Buckley are that good they will have no one worthy to play.

With the 20/20 championship in the bag, DDCA Turf 1 repeat looming...... what lies next. Who knows, Big K and Lefty may take on the might if the IPL???

Imagine if the Kiwi fires...... , the comp is like lambs to the slaughter

In my view the DDCA would be crazy not to take the GF back to Shepley. With the redevelopment to the social club, particularly the new balcony there would not be a better ground to watch the game at, either standing or from the car. The outfield is as good or better than anywhere else and the pitch would be better than Keysy. No brainer as far as I'm concerned.

Add in the sight screens a ready made box for the radio and the best facilities for players and umpires.

Springvale/Newcomen Rd best suited to host the GF. Doesn't get a mention due to them being a struggling T3 club with what appears to be little direction or support from their own players so therefore rules them out. Facilities, viewing, parking, fencing etc... wise, A1.

Im with Rocky here great location and has ample room for viewing. The only issue would be if they would be able to run a GF with help etc from players and the like.

While Sheply would be the best ground and facilities, I would imagine that the DDCA would prefer a DDCA club to benefit from the bar / canteen sales etc. Does the DDCA have an official position as to why they dont play the grand final at sheply?

I think that Shepley Oval has been used for Premier Cricket over the past few years for Semi Finals.

Dandenong CC are currently 2nd on the ladder and if they make the semi finals on 19 & 20 March they will most likely play at Shepley therefore making it unavailable for any DDCA finals.

Plus last year the wicket was not up to standard as witnessed by its re-laying off season.

DDCA grounds that are suggested are in good nick as far as outfield is concerned.  Can't compare wickets to Shepley but they usually stand up fairly well.
