You are not wrong at all Mr. Slocombe. As someone else has said on here, some clubs must be stacking their 2s, or are taking a big risk.
What risk are you talking about? Rightly or wrongly Kiwis are not classed as o/seas players. Clubs will play several Kiwis as well as an overseas player. The points is the only real calculation.
Yes its a can or worms but precedence has been set so in my view if a club has multiple Kiwis and they are good enough they will play 1sts
Well lets get serious. Are you suggesting that the new rule will be enforced? The whole Kiwi thing is a joke anyway. Clubs that have Kiwis will be allowed a years grace or the rule about permanent residency will be scrapped.

Unless i am mistaken, New Zealand is not a state or territory of Australia, and therefore is classified as an overseas country. Any player that comes from NZ and is not a resident of Oztralya is considered an overseas player. That is where the risk lies.
Too logical chosen one. They let it slide last year so what's done is done. Why be wrong 2 years in a row? Scrap the permanent resident rule or scrap the kiwis. Quite simple.
There is no doubt that under the rule the way it is worded that Kiwi's are classified as overseas players. I may be wrong but I thought the DDCA changed the rule (including the reference to the Migration act) to clarify this. Clubs had to hand the overseas players form in a week ago and the DDCA then approves this form. If clubs haven't included these NZ players on their form, and they play this week, then there is an issue in my opinion.
The Points system is the only way it can be governed. There are to many loop holes in the current rule. What happens if you have a junior player and he is not a permanent resident and then when he becomes a senior player is he be regarded as a 4 point overseas player or only a 1 point player?

good conundrum philbo. 4 games of juniors then means he is a 1 point overseas player in seniors.... unless of course he is a permanent resident or a kiwi....
There is one simple solution to all of this. Use the points system as it's designed to be used. Every team has a designated amount of points and can play whoever they choose, as long as they stay within the cap.
