Many cricketers will have retired from your clubs at the end of this season, why not encourage those guys to stay connected to cricket by taking up Umpiring.

Love them or Loath them, you guys need umpires and in most cases, ex-cricketers make good umpires. Its a great way to give your time back to a great sport and honestly, its the best view in the house.

The umpires are a very social bunch and the comradarie is fantastic.

The better the calibre of umpire will make your competition stronger, the DDCA is very well organised and the DDCUA [Umpires Association] is the same.

If you know of anyone who has recently retired or you think might be suitable, please encourage them to contact us, there are contact numbers on the DDCA website.

See you all in October.

Al, how bad had has this forum become? We warned them this would happen if they didn't cull the gobshyts like Goodsy, Slocs, Prince and Bobby with multi alias's.

On a side note, how good was that set at Secret Garden last night? Everyone that used my door list raved about the beats, it was crazy. Only if all the other 40 years old men would replicate my lifestyle.

Go on Pring, don't talk about it. take the tongue out of your cheek and, to borrow from kennedy and jeansy, ''doooo somthing'' -- namely become an umpire if only for one reason. i'd love you (any ump) to raise the digit to give slocs out lb. it would be a first in the ddca. i recall asking the question looong ago but got a non answer. still waiting to hear from his scorer. enlighten me o great one (that's slocs not you pring)

Apologies for my last poorly worded post on this matter egging pring on.  what i should have said was:

If you do become an ump, desist from the middle intention, it'll only bring grief to one of both of you. the great novelty of such a decision could give the great man a heart attack; alternatively, the shock-horror of such an outrageous, never-before experienced decision could cause the great man to use his bat in a manner that was never intended for it, putting you in hospital.

let's hope no ill comes of this.
