The ddca has seen fit to change the player points system for next year. what about ensuring a more equitable draw for the T2o?
seems one side can get an armchair ride into the finals under the current system.
for instance, group A has five turf 1 sides, group D has four, group C has two, and LUCKY LUCKY Springy South in group B is the ONLY T1 side alongside such renowned T20 powerhouses at Springvale, Silverton, Lyndale and St Mary's in its group.
would it not be possible, in the interest of a level (as possible) playing field for the ddca to have two components to the next draw. after teams nominate, the total T1 sides that nominate (say 8) are drawn first so that the four groups are each allocated two T1 teams. Then the teams nominating from other turf grades can also be apportioned.
Should there be an uneven number of T1 sides then a sub-draw could determine where the ''extra'' teams are placed; same for lower turf nominees.
at least this way there would not be such a heavily weighted advantage to one or two clubs. the draw would be seen to be more equitable.
Forgive me if I err but the draw for positions in the T20 was done in public like a barrier draw where a representative of each club pulled a number from a bowl/hat or whatever and that gave them their relative positions. The fixture was devised before the draw of numbers. Good luck to those who draw a number from a hat in public.
Gloves if you think that the DDCA controlled the number grabbing then they must be really great magicians to fool everyone in the joint.

(off)stump, i know exactly how the draw was done. nowhere did i suggest or intimate that the ddca manipulated the draw. what i AM saying is that the system is flawed and can be tweaked to better serve ALL the clubs participating.
This year its lucky sscc, next year who knows etc ...
The system I propose, I think, will help to even out the humps. If someone else has any better ideas, please air them because the whole purpose is to try and get a better system in place, not accuse the DDCA of manipulating anything at all. (if you were the full set of stumps, stumpy, you wouldn't be insinuating that i was impuning the good men who run the ddca.)
even slocs ackowledges his clubs good fortune and appears to be in agreement.
the fact is it is now too much of a lottery when it can easily be made more even.
Despite armchairs, cushions etc afforded to some by the T20 draw, the Noisy Boys were able to shake the foundations of the GD pavilion last night with their rousing club song after an emphatic victory over worthy co-finalists who were overwhelmed on the evening.
From my vantage point up an elm tree with my mate the well endowed squirrel i heard chatter from some visiting onlookers about what should be done to handicap the victors who are gluttons for t20 silverware, given their astounding five premierships out of the last six. could be interesting!
(Understand host club not amused by recruiting attempts last evening by a scavanger from another club who did the same thing last year. Shouldn't tempt fate.)
