Well might you ask ''What the .....'' having such a topic on an argy bargy cricket site?
Hang on the helmuts and protectors cobbers, this is a one-off for a good cause.
A Ladies Market Night will be held at Buckley Ridges Cricket Club in Pultney Street, Dandenong, from 6.30pm on Friday November 23 to raise funds for PREGNANCY LOSS AUSTRALIA, an organisation set up barely 10 years ago to assist families, especially women, who have suffered the loss of a child during pregnancy.
This is a seldom talked about issue afflicting many families, including some in the broader DDCA cricketing fraternity, with little known, fledgeling Pregnancy Loss Australia offering invaluable support and guidance to couples/ families in the aftermath of the most horrendous loss imaginable.
If you know anyone who has suffered such a tragic loss, or feel empathy for young people in such an invidious situation, please bring this event to the attention of your wives/partners/girl frields and make an effort to bring them along for an evening tailored just for the girls.
Entry is by gold coin donation and a huge range of products have been donated by retailers for sale/auction/raffle. Every cent raised will go to Pregnancy Loss Australia. (With Christmas coming, those of you who have been gifted children can indulge them with sets of Lego that will be available at least 50 per cent off RRP.)
Disclaimer: Please be aware that this event has not been organised in response to someone at BRCC being affected, but as a wider community response, on the initiative of the wife of a Buckley player. Welcome ALL.
Tangles, I'm delighted to report the organisers of the Pregnancy Loss Ladies Nite did just what you wished for! So heartfelt thanks to all the ladies and their men of the DDCA fraternity who supported the event. It was massive. Cars parked the entire length of Pultney St (never seen it like that before) plus the side streets. Thanks again folks.
Jake, You can make a donation by Googling mycause.com.au, which is the Pregnancy Loss Australia direct donation site, and notate, if you like, that you were alerted to the organisation by a function organised by Lisa Carman at BRCC.
