couple of big injuries in the hallam v berwick game i hear. wonder if those certain people would be allowed to have a runner on saturday?????? thoughts anyone?
I was actually asking that question last night. I reckon they should be allowed a runner as they never went into the match with the injuries. Others argued that it had to happen during the game. I really don't know the answer. If I was the opposition, I reckon I would allow them a runner, but I am a good bloke...
surely if the ddca fixtures 20/20 games in between a 2 day game ( which i don't have a problem with ) then i'm quite sure they'd be allowed a runner. that's just my opinion though.
oh and welcome to the h string club lads.....

Yeah I agree Craig. I would be seeking clarification before hand if I were Hallam though. Otherwise it could be just left to the Umps/Opposition Captain on the day.
In saying that, not sure one of them will even be able to bat with a runner on the weekend, looked pretty bad.
1.Substitutes and Runners (a)If the umpires are satisfied that a nominated player has been injured or become ill since the nomination of the players, they shall allow that player to have (i) a substitute acting for him in the field. (ii) a runner when batting. Any injury or illness that occurs at any time after the nomination of the players until the conclusion of the match shall be allowable, irrespective of whether play is in progress or not. (b)The umpires shall have discretion to allow, for other wholly acceptable reasons, a substitute fielder or a runner to act for a nominated player, at the start of the match, or at any subsequent time. (c)A player wishing to change his shirt, boots, etc. shall leave the field to do so. No substitute shall be allowed for him.
2.Objection to substitutes The opposing captain shall have no right of objection to any player acting as a substitute on the field, nor as to where the substitute shall field. However, no substitute shall act as wicket-keeper. See 3 below.
No more to be said. Substitute allowed but only up to 2 and must be a registerdcplayer of the club Last part underlined is part of DDCA Rules.
